First Democrat ever to be endorsed by the Club for Growth
On September 17th, I became the first Democrat ever to receive the endorsement of the South Carolina Club for Growth, a group which supports conservative economic ideas. My message is simple: cut the budget, reduce fees and limit unnecessary regulations in the office of the Secretary of State, and improve customer service.
Let's get rid of outdated methods of delivery
On September 29th, I delivered a press conference standing in front of York Technical College, the site for one of eight workshops for notaries scheduled by the incumbent Secretary of State. These workshops are yet another example of old-school thinking and waste in the Secretary of State's office. During my press conference, I introduced a free video tutorial that outlines the process of becoming a notary. Check out the video below.
Here are just a few examples:
The State: Tax payers shouldn't subsidize commutes for statewide elected officials
Post & Courier: S.C. among the Worst for Women in the Workplace
In major daily and weekly papers across the state: SC Club for Growth Backs Democrat for First Time
Statehouse Report: Down-ballot candidates get little attention
Women in Business Tour
Last week, we launched our Women in Business Tour traveling throughout the state listening to female business owners speak about their experiences and how the office of Secretary of State can do a better job of meeting their needs. Women are on the rise in South Carolina, ranking 6th in the nation for women-owned firms. As one woman notes, “Women don’t have time for the snail mail process used to complete the majority of transactions done within the Secretary of State’s office.”
"You're obviously running a hell of a race. Whoever is handling your graphics and communications is doing an excellent job. I just want to say that it's nice to see someone taking that office seriously."
On September 24th, Mark Hammond launched his campaign with a website containing 303 words. Welcome to the race Mark!
